The HoodSeries Manifesto

An Open Letter from iTECH Impact

John 1:45-46:

"Philip found Nathanael and told him, 'We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.' 'Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?' Nathanael asked. 'Come and see,' said Philip."

Throughout history, the most powerful answer to doubt has never been an argument, it's been an invitation.

When Nathanael questioned whether anything good could come from Nazareth, he was expressing a prejudice shaped by society's narratives about places and people. But Philip knew something Nathanael didn't: that the greatest transformation in human history was about to emerge from the very place people dismissed.

That is the heart of The Hood Series.

When people ask, "Can anything good come from the hood?" we extend the same invitation Philip gave:

Come and see.

Redefining "HOOD"

For too long, the word hood has carried negative connotations: poverty, crime, lack, limitation. But we are reclaiming this word and restoring its truth.

Hood means NEIGHBORHOOD.

Hood means HOME.

Hood is the place where families gather, where communities unite, where transformation begins, where resilience is born, where creativity grows, and where world-changers emerge.

Just as Jesus came to Nazareth, the hood of His time, to transform the world, extraordinary things are emerging from our hoods today.

The hood is not a limitation; it is a foundation.

Not a place of shame; a place of significance.

Not where dreams die; where destinies are born.

The Three Pillars of The Hood Series

HoodComing: Our Homecoming

HoodComing is what reclaiming our narrative looks like in real time. When people ask, "Can anything good come from the hood?" we don't tell them. We show them.

We showcase:

  • • brilliance
  • • creativity
  • • resilience
  • • unity
  • • generational pride

HoodComing is the celebration of where we're from, who we are, and where we're going together.

HoodFriday: Love in Action

HoodFriday carries the spirit of sacrificial love into our communities.

Good Friday commemorates Jesus laying down His life for redemption. HoodFriday honors:

  • • the sacrifices of our elders
  • • the builders who poured into us
  • • those who believed in us when others didn't

It is a day of reflection, remembrance, and renewal. A day of community service, healing, testimony, and transformation.

Come and see communities rebuilt through love and sacrifice. Come and see people who refuse to let their zip code determine their destiny.

HoodTeenth: Freedom in the Hood

HoodTeenth is our declaration of freedom and independence.

Juneteenth celebrates freedom delayed but not denied. HoodTeenth continues that legacy by declaring freedom from:

  • • negative narratives
  • • limited expectations
  • • generational oppression
  • • false stereotypes

Our hoods produce liberators, innovators, and change-makers.

HoodTeenth is where we display:

  • • entrepreneurship
  • • culture
  • • art
  • • youth excellence
  • • generational wealth
  • • the future of our communities

Freedom in action. Power in motion.

A Movement, Not an Event

The Hood Series isn't about changing perceptions with words; it is about transforming perspectives through experience.

We intentionally chose the word "hood" not to glorify struggle, but to honor origin.

Just as the Messiah came from a place people questioned, innovators and kingdom builders are emerging from our hoods.

The Hood Series is a national model for community transformation that communities everywhere can adopt.
